Thank goodness I take photos! It's Friday evening and I'm already trying to remember all we did this week. I'm sure we had a little fun...but first we had a visit from these two guys...
Yup. There they are...I had their names written down on a piece of paper on my desk all week. But after school today I couldn't stand my desk one minute longer so I cleared it off. Anyway, I know they're Blazers, they're 20, they like to nap, fish and drink chocolate milk! Oh the questions kindies ask!
Here's our part of the Never Ending Story we wrote for literacy week. It was passed to three other classes who needed to add on and finish it. We are still waiting to see the finished product.

Time to find out our new letter!
P for Polar Bear! Here are some of our Polar Bear Activities this week...
I love their torn paper polar bears! The kindies found them HARD to make! No scissors allowed!

In science we've been reading about snow and how snowflakes are made up of crystals. We are making crystals out of baking soda. The kindies are SOOOO interested in this activity.
Stirring in the baking soda and setting up the experiment.
It was hard to get a good picture, but you can see the rim of this jar is covered with crystals. This was after 3 days.
We learned that snowflakes have 6 sides that are called branches. All the sides are the same. So we made some...
We wrote about what we liked to do in winter and worked on this craftivity.
In Math, we estimated how many plastic bears would fit in the special helper's mitten. Then we sorted our mittens and gloves.
Hmmm. This didn't tell us much. So we figured out if we lined them up in two straight lines we would learn more.
Now we could see that we had an equal number of mittens to gloves. You have to know 5 year olds to realize how exciting this math lesson was. It was great to reinforce the term equal, as they didn't all remember it.
We've been talking about greater than, less than and equal with Fred the Fish so I decided to see what they could do without Fred.

Looks like they're getting it!
We had fun dressing up as storybook characters today and participating in the Book Swap.
Now it's time to think ahead to February and start planning for Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day and 100 Day. A class list will go home next week for Valentine's Day. I'll keep you posted!

P.S. Here's a photo of my two little cuties and a Polar Bear taken last summer!
