Waiting for spring...
I know spring is almost a month away, but with only 5 sunny days on our February weather graph, I am ready to say good-bye to the gray winter days. Snow is so much nicer if the sun is shining on it! With the changes of weather we've been having lately, it's important that all the children have extra clothes at school. When the weather warms up our school grounds get wet and muddy. Puddles seem to become magnets for children.
Last week I didn't get the blog up and running as the flu bug that's been going around caught up to me! So let me catch you up on some highlights of what we've been doing...
We began learning about the letter Ll
We went to the computer lab for the 2nd time
We learned a new shape song
We learned about rectangles
We met with Ms. Martin's K class in Texas via video-conference
We said good-bye to Mr. Ruddick
I really want to thank all the families for supporting us in getting ready for the RAP video-conference last Thursday. Also a big thank you to Mrs. Gorman, our teacher librarian, who managed the technical aspect of this project. Ms. Martin was an absolutely lovely teacher (We loved her Texas accent and how she said ya'll). Her class sang 3 different good morning songs for us and Ms. Martin read us a fun story called Don't Let the Pigeon Ride the Bus. We sang a friendship song and shared our story Pete the Cat, which had her students dancing! The children got to visit and ask a few questions. The Texas children were very interested in the fact that we had snow on the ground, as they were wearing shorts and t-shirts to school! They loved Mario and Angry Birds and get to eat hot dogs and pizza from their school cafeteria. It's great to see children from different countries finding so much in common.
