It's been a busy week and it's not over yet! The kindies have been learning about pumpkins in science.
We've labelled the parts and used describing words to talk about pumpkins. Then on Tuesday we got to carve pumpkins for Gardengate! Thank you to the parent helpers who were able to help cut out the kindies' designs.
Didn't they do a good job?
We also celebrated day 30 in kindergarten and Zero the Hero stopped by and left this...

That bag was heavy! The kindies thought it might be filled with pumpkins...
...they were close. Mmmm pumpkin pie play-dough! (Orange play-dough with pumpkin pie spices mixed in). So after playing for a few minutes we had to do some Math with the play-dough.
We made the number 30 of course!
We also read a story about a monster who came to school and didn't know how to behave. The children named him Trouble and made a list of rules to help him out! We began working on a book of class rules to help Trouble learn to behave at school.

Shyla came for show and tell (she belongs to Mrs. and Mrs. Hyslop). The kindies got to make her sit and give her a treat. She gave them lots of kisses!
We made paper plate pumpkins and glued the pumpkin life cycle on them. They look a little messy, but there is really good learning happening here!
We practiced using "drippy glue" and glitter.
What a busy week we've been having! Thank you to everyone for returning the 3 permission forms this week. Everything seems to happen all at once.
HELP WANTED!
I wanted to ask if there are any parents interested in helping with scrapbooks this year. Every year I have glued a collection of student work into a scrapbook to be sent home in June. This year I am going to pass the job completely over to parent volunteers. I simply can't do it all. If 3-4 parents volunteer to be responsible for the scrapbooks, it would help spread out the work. Let me know if this is something you can help with.
If anyone is interested in making play-dough for our classroom, please let me know. Our play-dough dried up while I was away and the children are missing it!
Have a great weekend!
